Every effort will be made to include only credible HIV/AIDS care or support-related sites.  The organizations reflected in the following list do not all receive Ryan White grant funding which is extremely limited, and has many federal limitations placed on its use.

Founded in 1984, Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the state of Nevada. Nearly two thousand men, women and children infected with HIV are registered as clients with our agency. AFAN provides direct client service programs, food programs, prevention and education programs, and community outreach. It is the mission of our client service programs to enhance the physical health and psychosocial wellness of the individuals we serve, while promoting their dignity and improving the quality of their lives.

Caminar/Nevada facilities provide housing and rehabilitation services to people with HIV/AIDS or with severe mental illnesses. Because many people with HIV/AIDS are coping with multiple medical and psychological diagnoses, services may include home health care, and management of medical appointments.  Scattered site housing helps people find housing in the community, and provides help with transportation, scheduling medical appointments and social outings.

Paratransit - A shared-ride, door-to-door program available to individuals who are unable to independently use the CAT bus either all of the time, temporarily or under certain circumstances.  Eligibility is determined through a functional assessment.  Disability alone does not determine eligibility.  The qualification process takes approximately 21 days.

Bus Service - Provides a reduced fare for seniors 62+ by presenting a Reduced Fare Identification Card, available at the Downtown Transportation Center.

Community Counseling Center promotes the healthy functioning of individuals, families, and communities through affordable, sensitive, and professional behavioral health services in a safe environment...  Individual, couple, family and group therapy explore such issues as linkages between HIV/AIDS and substance abuse. Persons with HIV/AIDS spectrum disease are assisted in developing coping skills that emphasize social and psychological well-being after diagnosis. Family members and significant others are taught to deal with specific issues such as grief, adjustment, helplessness, guilt, and anger. Education is provided regarding symptoms of dementia and the effects of medication.

The purpose of Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc. is to enable our citizens with disabilities and barriers to employment to start new careers and lives of independence. The sale of donated "gently used" merchandise in Goodwill's retail stores supports Goodwill's education, job training and job placement services for Las Vegas citizens with disabilities or barriers to employment. Since 1997, Goodwill of Southern Nevada has provided workforce development services to over 5,100 people and enabled over 1,400 people with disabilities and barriers to employment start new careers and lives of independence.

Provides services to people in certain zip codes in Las Vegas who are 60 years of age and older who are in need of transportation and food.  Respite care at no charge.  Volunteer-staffed transportation program.

Jewish Family Services Agency is a comprehensive social service agency committed to addressing the human service needs of children, adolescents and adults.  Their primary services include counseling, food pantry, information and referral services, volunteer corps, Holocaust survivor's assistance, The Chessed Fund, adoption services and Tzedakah emergency assistance.

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission currently houses up to 100 men in our Celebrate Recovery program as well as housing up to 45 women and children in our Shelter of Hope. In addition to our residential program we are able to offer another 46 men emergency shelter from the harsh Las Vegas climate.

They also provide meals, clothing, household items and life-skills counseling for those who are in need. Instead of simply providing a hand out, we provide a hand up for those who are willing to take it and a chance for people to get back on their feet. We prefer to think we are providing shelter and services for people who have no home, not people who are homeless.
Our goal is to continue to serve God and our community with integrity and sound programs to reach the lost and dying with the hope of a better tomorrow.

A volunteer-based program designed to assist elderly and disabled residents of Boulder City to remain in their own homes.  Clients must live in boulder City in order to qualify for services which include respite care, shopping services and transportation to medical appointments, as well as companion services in the home.  Fees are charged on a sliding scale.  Assessments are completed in the home.

Since 1996, Lutheran Social Services of Nevada has served over 100,000 families in need through our individual & family oriented programs.  We realize that everyone faces hard times. Less than 10% of our clients are chronically homeless. Help us to support these people in their time of need. Provides inpatient and home hospice services for Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City and surrounding areas, including pain and symptom management and comfort care therapies for end-of-life patients.  They also provide support and bereavement services for loved ones.

Help of Southern Nevada and Crisis Call Center will serve as the Nevada 2-1-1 information and referral centers.  This service has been made possible through funding from the State of Nevada.  The centers are staffed by live information and referral specialists who can offer assistance in accessing:

    • Programs for children, youth and families
    • Support for seniors and persons with disabilities

A federally funded Community Health Center Program that operates 21 Medical Centers in Nevada.  A sliding fee schedule is available, based on family income.  Health Care services are provided to everyone regardless of race, creed or handicap and without regard for their ability to pay.

Nevada JobConnect is charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers of Nevada. For employers, Nevada JobConnect offers recruiting, retention, training and retraining, and outplacement services as well as valuable information on labor law and labor market statistics. For job seekers, Nevada JobConnect offers career development information, job search resources, training programs, and, as appropriate, unemployment benefits. While targeted populations receive intensive assistance to overcome barriers to employment all Nevadans can benefit from the services offered by Nevada JobConnect  and our network of workforce partners.

For seniors 60 or older or who have a permanent disability.  They provide discounted taxicab fares to seniors and persons with disabilities residing in Clark County through coupon booklets that are accepted by all taxicab companies in Clark County.  The coupons can be purchased in booklets.

A Medicare certified hospice that provides care for persons who have a life limiting disease.  They provide care and support to the individual affected by this disease and their loved ones.  They are available 24-hours a day/7 days a week.  They provide nurses, home health aides, social workers, physician support, spiritual support, bereavement support, therapies and volunteers.

UMC's dedicated in- and out-patient services, its participation in national clinical trials, and its experienced and caring staff are aimed at providing the most advanced and comforting care, one patient at a time. We care for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families regardless of age or ability to pay.  The Wellness Center can address most of your primary health care needs.  Our clients choose one of our physicians as their primary doctor. That physician then follows them for their ongoing healthcare concerns.

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine is committed to increasing access to quality oral health care for all Nevadans. In addition to educating future dentists, the school is making a difference today by providing oral health care to thousands of Nevadans. The School of Dental Medicine operates two clinical facilities in Las Vegas. Our largest facility is on our Shadow Lane Campus, located at 1700 W. Charleston Avenue at the corner of Charleston Avenue and Shadow Lane. This is our primary teaching and clinical facility housing 165 dental operatories and adjunctive clinical, laboratory, and support services.  We also operate a community-based dental facility on Wheeler Peak Road in North Las Vegas. Both facilities are open to all Nevadans including those participating in some of Nevada's Medicaid programs.

Veterans are eligible for VA health care benefits. VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) provides healthcare services to more than 35,000 patients yearly, exceeding 300,000 outpatient visits per year. Access to primary care has been expanded to include Community Based Outpatient Clinics in the nearby cities of Henderson and Pahrump. Inpatient services are provided at the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital as part of a VA/Department of Defense (DOD) Joint Venture that is a national model for VA/DOD Sharing Agreements. Other services provided by VASNHS include psychiatric day treatment, readjustment counseling, and outreach for homeless veterans. Southern Nevada is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Services provided by VASNHS continue to expand to meet the demands of the dynamic growth. HIV Primary Care is one of the special services listed on their website.

The NCCC, a unit of the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine, is a component of the AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETCs) program funded under the Ryan White Care Act by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  A new feature of this site is a compendium of State HIV Testing Laws.  Most importantly, this site lists the following emergency consultation phone lines:

    • National HIV Telephone Consultation Service - (800) 933-3413 "warmline" available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, provides expert clinical advice on HIV/AIDS management for health care providers, from those with limited access to expert consultation to those with complex antiretroviral resistance dilemmas.
    • National Clinicians' Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Hotline - (888)-448-4911 "PEPline" provides 24-hour consultation on questions about managing occupational exposures (needle sticks, splashes, etc.) to HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and other blood-borne pathogens.
    • National Perinatal HIV Consultation and Referral Service - (888)-HIV-8765 Perinatal HIV Hotline provides around-the-clock advice on indications and interpretations of standard and rapid HIV testing in pregnancy as well as consultation on antiretroviral use in pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period.  The Perinatal HIV Consultation and Referral Service also links HIV-infected pregnant women with appropriate health care.

The federal Ryan White CARE Act provides health care for people with HIV disease. Enacted in 1990, it fills gaps in care faced by those with low-incomes and little or no insurance. HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau administers the program through hundreds of grantees, who serve 571,000 people each year.
